Magnesium: The Missing Link to Better Health

Magnesium is a crucially important mineral for optimal health, performing a wide array of biological functions, including but not limited to:

  • Activating muscles and nerves
  • Creating energy in your body by activating adenosine triphosphate (ATP)
  • Helping digest proteins, carbohydrates, and fats
  • Serving as a building block for RNA and DNA synthesis
  • It’s also a precursor for neurotransmitters like serotonin

Few people get enough magnesium in their diet these days. Meanwhile, calcium tends to be over-utilized and taken in high quantities. This can cause more harm than good, as it’s very important to have a proper balance between these two minerals.

In December 2013 and again in January, 2015 Dr. Mercola of Mercola.com wrote and published this information in two separate articles that are some of the most widely circulated Mercola articles to date:

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2013/12/08/magnesium-health-benefits.aspx

http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2015/01/19/magnesium-deficiency.aspx

While these articles are accurate in many terms, they also requires a bit of updating – especially the section of the article that features a comparison of magnesium types and efficiencies.

Tonight we had lots of chitty chatting about magnesium, minerals and the total body approach to healing.
