Diabetes, Kidney Disease and Magnesium – Carolyn Dean MD ND

Many people live with type 2 diabetes for a long period of time without being aware of their condition. By the time they figure it out the complications of this condition may already be present.

One of the signs of diabetes is low magnesium; it’s in all the medical texts but because we never learned about the importance of minerals in medical school, doctors do not routinely test for magnesium. And if they do, they use the wrong test. The serum magnesium test is highly inaccurate. Diabetes damages the kidneys and is the leading cause of kidney disease. RESOURCE- Fat-free ReStructure Cookie

In a mixing bowl add:

3/4 cup water
1 teaspoon ReMag
1/2 teaspoon ReMyte
1/2 teaspoon ReCalcia
1 teaspoon vanilla

mix and add to that:

1 egg
1/3 cup Truvia Baking Blend
1/2 cup RESTRUCTURE vanilla protein dry mix
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup buckwheat flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

Note: You can add 2-3 tbs of butter for a buttery rich flavor OR make as is.

Combine ingredients and stir in 3/4 cup walnuts. Drop onto prepared cookie sheet by Tablespoonfuls. Bake at 350 for 10 minutes.

You can make sandwich cookies by cutting them open and adding frosting or ice cream.
They freeze well too.
